WhatsApp Down

Tens of thousands of users have reported experiencing an outage with WhatsApp, the instant messaging service owned by Meta that has over 2 billion users. According to user reports, the outage started about 12.20 AM PT. The outage has been noticed, and WhatsApp claims it is working to fix it.

Users are unable to alter their profile information or privacy settings, send or receive new messages, or join up for WhatsApp, they claimed. Two web services that monitor the Facebook app, DownDetector and WaBetaInfo, have verified the outage. According to DownDetector, which in a single hour received more than 60,000 user complaints regarding the issue, WhatsApp is currently down everywhere.

According to WaBetaInfo, the problem is “server-side,” which means that a remote repair from Meta is required.
